"Don't have enough votes anyway"......

Ran along several of these signs yesterday while driving the Augusta area and it reminded me of what both Emmett and another local State Senator told me recently. Both of them often come into where I work and back when they were headed to Richmond after Governor McAuliffe's use of his veto-pen, they both told me the same thing with a smile.

"Don't have enough votes anyway"...

Is what I heard from both of these Republican State Senators when we discussed several of the items that Terry-Mac used his veto pen on. Both times I got the feeling that these Senators had no interest in fighting for what the voters elected them to do and with that it's time for "Career Incumbents" to go...

Besides these signs (Poor quality and design) I have heard several times radio messages telling us how Hanger continues to fight for low spending and low taxes, and other "Conservative" issues. But yet Emmett has shown several times he is more than willing to sign up with and support the Democrats when he should be fighting for the "Conservative issues" that he claims to support during campaign time...

Truth is Emmett as well as the other State Senator will cake walk in the next election. Hanger has two GOP primary opponents that will "Split" the vote thus handing Emmett the primary election and continue his "Career" position. Hanger also has the cash that the two challengers lack and let's not forget the "Local media" that also looks out for their own interest. The voters have handed the GOP the Majority in the House & Senate both nationally and in the State of Virginia both but with "Career politicians" our conservative values and policies continue to lose ground...

Time to remove the incumbents but not going to happen this time and memory of a challenge from within his own party will be short lived for Emmett once he wins the primary.....

Beverley Manor has a new Supervisor......

The NewsLeader reports:

VERONA—County supervisors unanimously appointed an interim Beverley Manor supervisor Wednesday night: former Staunton Chief of Police Grafton "Butch" Wells.

Wells replaces David Karaffa, who resigned his district seat in April to move out of state.

"I'm not one to sit around and do nothing," said Wells, who has worked as a landscaper, property manager and even a Martin's Grocery employee since retiring from the Staunton force in 2003.

"I was aware of certain issues that Augusta County has coming up in the next several months and years," the new interim supervisor said. " I thought maybe my experiences in 32 years of government work can be of help."

Starting out as a sociology major at Bridgewater College, Wells turned to police science and earned his Master's Degree in public administration from James Madison University.

Best known as Chief of Police of the City of Staunton from 1986 to 2003, he later served as interim police chief of Colonial Beach.

While declining to name specific issues, Wells said he's "in a fact finding mode. There are a lot more people in Augusta County that I want to hear from and get more feedback," he said.

Wells took the oath of office Wednesday and will serve until the end of the year.

A recent visitor asked the question will Dr. Kurt attempt to take another bite out of the apple in the upcoming County elections with help from the Staunton Newsleader and Ms. Mitchell. No definitive information on that yet but a little research resulted in several references to both M&M and even the "Miss-Leader" in the internet world......

The "Bull Elephant" had some interesting info as well as reflection on a "WaPo" article and the stance taken by some mentioned here. It seems both M&M are well known within the VA political world and are "well known" for their past practices and tactics used. But yet they continue:

4. The WaPo’s 5th Column

Hilariously, the WaPo in its “journalism” piece last week interviewed only establishment malcontents in bashing RPV.

I said at the time that these malcontents should be banned from holding office in the party for collusion with our opponents. This now seems prescient.

From Ray Allen’s “I’ll bankrupt RPV” stance to Lynn Mitchell’s constant attacks on any Republican she does not agree with, and now spreading the WaPo’s attacks on the party, it is clear we have a cadre of people who do not agree with the party’s principles, and want it to be defeated.

These people constitute a “5th column” of Quislings who seek to damage the party if it does not become more like the Democrats- a party that is OK with growing government and limiting liberty, as long as it benefits them and their interests in the process.

Reading the above bit from the Bull-elephant piece brought back many past memories of the "Politics within the Politics" of Augusta County during an ugly period. A link to another Bull-elephant post reminded me of what was promised by somebody who eventually had to step down from a awarded Committee Chairmanship after a election where he did not have the majority of the citizens votes...
